Glass sliding doors look very trendy and contemporary in homes and offices. Its convenience and several practical advantages had made it very popular. However, maintenance of the glass doors and keeping them clean can be a bit of a problem. Not only the glass, dirt and grime can get trapped within the track causing the doors to become more resistant to moving and sliding. Cleaning it regularly will avoid accumulation of dirt and grime.

Firstly purchase all that you would need for starting with the cleaning. Most of the supplies would be available in any hardware store that will be needed in cleaning the track.

The glass sliding door needs to be opened to clean the track. It should be lifted gently and pulled towards the upper track so that it can be disengaged from its lower track. A cleaning solution can be sprayed over the tract and allowed to soak in it for about five minutes before cleaning the dirt. Make use of a flathead screwdriver to clean the tract. In case you do not have one, you can make use of any sturdy flat head object that fits into the tract smoothly and can help scoop out the dirt. It is usually a time consuming process and may take as long as 15 to 20 minutes. After the dirt and grime comes off lose, a vacuum cleaner can be used to clean up the lose dirt and grime and the mess.

Having cleaned the tract, the door and the hinges should be lubricated with grease or a silicon based lubricant like SD-40. Use the tip of your index finger and coat the sliding tract very well. When you feel that the door is moving with sufficient ease and smoothly, the cleaning process is done.
